"Ladies First!"

According to my research there is scarce polling on Palin for the 2016 Presidential Election. From this it does not look good for Palin; we see that since she is not involved people do not see her as a real contender for the election. Palin will really have to work to get in the polling and be seen as a candidate for the upcoming election.
People not involving Palin, well thats none of our business!

McClatchy-Marist conducted a poll with the two candidates as Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin.  59% of National Registered Voters would vote for Clinton and only 36% would vote for Palin. This is a big 23-point gap, and it shows how much she needs to work for this upcoming election if she wants to have a chance at becoming President. On the downside of this the Democrat party 97% would vote for Hillary and 3% would vote for Sarah, and for the Republican party 14% would vote for Hillary and 80% would vote for Sarah. This even shows that her party is a little concerned about her being President. But luckily with her being apart of the Tea Party it has given her a boost in supporters over Clinton, 76% compared to Clintons 19%.

CrowdPAC allows you to pick and compare candidates for the 2016 Presidential Election. So of course I want to see what they have to say about Palin vs. Clinton match up “Ladies First!”. When comparing the vision of the candidate, we see that Clinton has a straight vision and everyone knows what she is in support of, while on the other hand it is said that most people do not know what Palin’s vision really is. Palin’s presidential qualities are low compared to Clinton’s. What she needs to work on most is her effectiveness that is her lowest scoring quality.

Some of her top terms used:
More Liberal Terms: love, reform, oil, happy
Neutral Terms: energy, future, free, stand, women, work, tax, fight,
Kind, raise, United States, proud, men, war.
More Conservative Terms: Obama, God, debt
Where as for Hillary Clinton, she uses more neutral terms and a few liberal terms, but not any conservative terms. This is where Palin is able to reach across both sides and is able to connect and impact everyone as a whole. Where as Clinton is not really reaching anyone.

As we are able to see overall Palin to the public is not a big contender and that there are way more people in front of her to take the line. Even though we are two years out, she needs to make an impact now especially seeing as this election will be a big deal and since the media has expanded it will be all over the candidates. The time to start prepping is now because it will be a long two years if she does not start acting now.

Palin needs to get her toes out of the water and decide whether she is all in or going to be sitting by the beach. Or someone should just push her in.

Language in a Time of Tragedy

Plains Linguistic Language

"America's Enduring Strength"

From January 12, 2011 Palin posted to Facebook about the tragic event that happened in Arizona.

Symbols
Palin uses symbols to connect herself with us using words like “exceptional nation” and talking about and reflecting on 9-11. By being able to use symbols of things we believe in she can connect with us and seem more humanized and that she goes through the same difficulties we go through. She also uses strong and powerful words that show an impact and really stand out, words like “tragedy”, “blood libel”, “hatred” and “violence”

Social Reality
Speaking about this in general shows that yes, this happens and we need to take a stand on what is going on. She reflected upon what President Reagan had said “We must reject the idea that every time a law’s broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.” This in its own is strong and powerful, because of how many people loved and respected President Reagan she was able to tie his words from tragedy to this, which makes her a strong speaker.

Political Language
Plain uses definition throughout her statement by showing us in paragraph six how “acts of monstrous criminality stand on their own” she defines it that it is those who use “their First Amendment rights at campaign rallies, not those who proudly voted in the last election.”
Second, she uses similitude not directly but she hints at certain things throughout where she is trying to make sense of what has happened and what we could do to improve upon this and not let it happen again.
Next, we see cause and effect, but she does not directly have an effect, she tells us the cause of what happened and does not directly say this will effect us, but that there is tragedy. She references Congresswoman Gifford reading the First Amendment on the floor of the House just days before she was shot. We have seen that some people see a cause and will make their own effect.
Finally, we see Palin use her authority, when she talks about the election and how she is a strong willed politician and her campaigning. She also talks about our Founding Fathers, which shows a testimony around the views and our country.

Throughout her statement she used the word “tragedy” five times, her most used word was “I” which she had used eight times. When compared to President Obama’s speech where he was more personal then she was, but comparing to this for her political language you have to remember that this was in the time of tragedy and yes, she did very well but she also did not make it personal, she focused more on the issue at hand and how America can over come this to become stronger. Palin used a strong sense of language but this does not show her strengths but it does show she is still strong at speaking in a diverse time of crisis.
